Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has raised concerns over an unauthorised credit into one of his private bank accounts, alleging that his confidential banking information may have been compromised.
In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said the transfer was made by an unknown individual with the narration, “Contribution Electioneering Campaign,” adding that neither he nor his campaign authorised or solicited the payment.
The former vice president questioned how the details of what he described as a strictly private bank account became available to unknown persons, warning that any compromise of confidential banking information could expose citizens to criminal activities.
He said security agencies had been informed of the development and described the incident as part of what he called suspicious activities ahead of the 2027 general elections. Atiku also urged Nigerians not to be distracted by what he described as attempts to damage his reputation.
